The Sherwood Schools 2016 Capital Bond - At a Glance

Thank you, Sherwood community!  

On Election Day, November 8, 2016, voters in the Sherwood community favored ballot measure 34-254, with a passing approval of 54%. (View the Press Release here.)

As the District moves forward in development of plans, timelines and completion of bond-related projects, that information will be shared regularly through this site and other communication outlets including the monthly District Newsletter, Facebook and Twitter.

  • Newest Site Plan
    Please visit this link to view the most current site plan for the new high school.

  • Urban Growth Boundary Approval
    On August 17, 2017 the Metro Regional Government Council approved our Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) amendment for the new high school development. This will add approximately 75 acres to the Urban Growth Boundary contingent upon it being used for a public high school.

  • Neighborhood Meeting
    The District hosted a Neighborhood Meeting on October 4, 2017 for people that live near the new HS site to discuss the land-use approval process for the new high school project, including the request for an approved concept plan and to zone the property for institutional and public use.  View the PowerPoint presentation here.

  • Community Forum

  • Upcoming Neighborhood Meeting on 10/4/2017:
    On October 4th SSD will host a neighborhood meeting for people who live near the new HS site, in the cafeteria of Laurel Ridge Middle School from 7:00-8:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the land-use approval process for the project including the request for an approved concept plan and to zone the property for institutional and public use.

Bond Proposal

Bond-funded projects will include:

- District-wide safety and security upgrades

- District-wide deferred maintenance

- Curriculum and technology

- Construction of a new high school on a new site

- Costs associated with the issuance of the bond

Project List

Bond funds will support:
  • Construction of a new high school on a new site, with 2,000 student capacity and 2,400 core capacity (expandable total capacity to 2,400 in a future, second phase)
  • Relocating Laurel Ridge and Sherwood Middle to existing high school campus
  • Relocating Hopkins to Sherwood Middle campus
  • Converting The Ridges campus to two elementary schools
  • Relocating District programs and community spaces to existing Hopkins site
